Welcome
On behalf of the Australian Marine Alliance (AMA) welcome to our website.
The AMA is an exciting initiative that has never been attempted before. The AMA is an amalgamation of peak industry groups, fisherman and training organisations across the Australian recreational and commercial fishing, aqua culture, manufacturing, marine, outboard and allied sectors. The AMA is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with varied industry groups both nationally and internationally to develop sustainable fisheries policies. Key to the AMA is a deep commitment to the environment, cross sector unity and the implementation of progressive and sophisticated economic and social policies that grow our industry whilst delivering long-term outcomes for the environment. Our core strategy is to provide a strong and viable future for all those who love and rely upon the marine environment.
More importantly there is NO JOINING or MEMBERSHIP FEE to be involved with the AMA. Enjoy our website.

The AMA is committed to repairing the linkages between fisherman and consumers. The best way to do this is to go directly to chefs. As a result the AMA has built an alliance with the acclaimed Food Companion International Magazine and Executive Chefs Club to spread the sustainable seafood message.

Industry unite to let Government know that the environment deserves better. The Australian Marine Alliance made history on Wednesday 27 June in Federal Parliament with the leaders of recreational and commercial / professional fishing industries united against the handling of the marine bio-regional planning process by the Gillard Government. Peak allied industry sectors were also represented from the seafood, consumer, boating, outboard engine, light marine, manufacturing and local community recreational fishing NGO's to say there is a better way to protect the environment and to preserve local jobs than the current Minister Burke solution. |

AMA hosts Chinese delegation to talk about Australian seafood and the environment The AMA recently hosted a Chinese delegation from Guangzhou Province China. The groups met at the Sydney Fish Markets and talked about bi-lateral trade and export opportunities. A key focus was the recognition by the Chinese of Australia's high quality and sustainably caught seafood. The AMA has agreed to enter more formal negotiations that enable and facilitate Australian SME's and relevant exporters to access key elements of the Chinese market. |

AMA in International Angler The AMA thanks Angling International for inserting some of our material in their February 2012 edition. The article however poses more concerns for anglers. Have a read and make your own mind up. Should we be making back room deals on closing 1 million sq kms of ocean or should the science lead the way? |
Grey Imports The importation of so called Grey Imports into Australia from depressed markets like the USA over the past 12 months has posed serious concerns for Australian manufacturers, distributors and official dealers and therefore Australian jobs. Grey imports fail to comply with Australian standards and the Federal Government is doing nothing about it. In essence it's dumping and it needs to be stopped. Click to find out more |
